ISO 14064 GHG Inventory and Verification of JYD Group
March2022 – JYD Group Obtains DNV Verification Statement for ISO 14064-1:2018 Standard for GHG Inventory
In recent years, the greenhouse effect has impacted the world through extreme climate events. As a global citizen, JYD Group has been actively responding to the government’s carbon reduction policy through the implementation of carbon reduction measures each year, with the goal of a 20% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030. JYD Group has also been conducting GHG inventory for the entire company since 2020 and has obtained the ISO 14064-1:2018 verification statement.
GHG emissions are categorized into Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 according to the emission source. Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions that are generated from the use of utility equipment in the plant, such as refrigerant, septic tanks, generators, oxidizers, and forklifts, whereas Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions are indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, upstream and downstream cargo transportation, raw material procurement, and waste treatment.
In terms of energy saving and carbon reduction measures, the company is currently focusing on reducing electricity consumption under Scope 2. Since 2020, JYD Group has replaced old lighting fixtures within the plant area with energy-efficient light bulbs, which has saved 51,382 kWh of electricity over 2 years, equivalent to a reduction of 25.79 metric tons of CO2e emissions (the electricity carbon emission factor is based on the value announced by the Bureau of Energy in 2020). In addition to the ongoing replacement of old lighting fixtures, the Company also plans to establish a green power generation system in the future as a substitution for traditional thermal power generation, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
