JYD’s Gold Product Carbon Footprint Certification
Owing to the concern in global warming issues, JYD has been implementing carbon-reduction measures, hoping to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. JYD passed the gold product carbon footprint certification conducted by the DNV GL Business Assurance in September 2012.
The carbon footprint analysis for the products of JYD includes the inventory and carbon footprint assessment of energy flow and material flow of JYD as well as its upstream and downstream supply chains. The project follows the PAS 2050 standard, and selects a gold product for greenhouse gas emission analysis. The scope of boundary includes raw material acquisition, product manufacturing and departure from the boundary gate, implying a Cradle-to-Gate boundary.
Revealing the Amount of Carbon Used to Find the “Black Hole” of Energy Consumption
After understanding the product's carbon footprint, JYD formulated control measures to complete the required "carbon reduction" work. Through the implementation of the carbon reduction measures, considerable room for "energy saving" can be obtained to further reduce the production cost, achieving a win-win goal for both operation and environmental protection.
With the trend of energy saving and carbon reduction, more and more well-known companies worldwide are involved in the calculation of carbon footprint. While calculating the carbon footprint, JYD can find out the less efficient segment of the production process and make further improvement.
Through energy saving and carbon reduction, operation costs can be reduced. It also helps to achieve energy conservation and environmental protection, enhance responding capability, and create new business opportunities. The work for the reduction of greenhouse gases includes energy conservation, energy efficiency improvement, tree and vegetation planting, etc. Energy conservation is a no regret strategy. Diagnosis and assessment on the current energy use are implemented to set energy-saving targets. The implementation of energy-saving measures will effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve the goal of low-carbon development.
